my current obsessions

Obsession #1: My Old Navy capris.

Matt and I went to Old Navy recently with some coupons. I almost didn’t try on the capris, but decided “what the hay” and did. I’m in love. I want 80 more pairs exactly like them. They fit me PERFECTLY. Pants never fit me perfectly. Ever. They fit like the designer at Old Navy measured me. I love them. I love them. I love them. I put them on yesterday just to wear them to get the mail. Sadly, I can’t find them on Old Navy’s website. Maybe I’ll post a picture of me later.

Obsession #2: Car seats.

David has outgrown his infant carrier, so we’ve been researching car seats. A giant one was delivered by the Hulk this afternoon (our UPS delivery man). It’s HUGE compared to his infant seat. We got the Evenflo Triumph Advance 65 DLX (holy moly for a name, right?). It’s the #1 rated on Consumer Reports for crash test safety and all that, and gets great consumer reviews (for a price that’s not too shabby, too). We’re hoping to use it forever and ever with all the babies in our future.

Obsession #3: Las Vegas.

We are flying to Las Vegas on Monday, and it’s been all I’ve thought about for weeks now. Matt is going for business, so David and I are hangin’ in the 4 ACRE pool area and walking around. There’s a lion habitat in the hotel next to ours (because it’s Vegas and they can), so David and I might spend a lot of time there while Matt is businessing. David loves dogs, cows, and fish (the only animals he’s seen), so I’m thinking lions will be a big hit. Not surprisingly, there’s not a lot to do in Vegas with a baby, but that’s okay; we’re just looking forward to being somewhere new and out of cold Idaho.

Obsession #4: David.

This isn’t anything new, obviously. But who isn’t obsessed with this kid? He’s eight months old now — crazy! He babbles “ma ma ma ma” and “dat dat dat dat” constantly (at no one or anything in particular). He squeals and screams (not angrily) whenever he gets the chance. He is trying his hardest to crawl. I was looking at him the other day, and he suddenly looked different. Older. He’s changing from a baby to a toddler, and it makes me excited and sad.
